PRÆSENTATION AF SITET

BEGRUNDELSE FOR SITET

Horsens Gasworks was in operation from 1860-1969. A tar factory and an asphalt roofing factory was also located at the site. The site is heavily contaminated with tar components, phenols, heavy metals and cyanide. It is estimated that the volume of contaminated soil is 45 000 m3. A contaminated groundwaterplume discharges in a habour bassin 100 metes downstream the site. The hotspot area is easily accesible as it is situated beneath a parking lot.

The testsite opend in june 2015. 

GEOLOGI

Fill, sand, glacial till.

An upper and a lower aquifer seperated by moraine clay.

FORURENINGSSITUATION

The site is heavily contaminated with tar components, phenols, heavy metals and cyanide. In 1996 contaminated soil is excavated in selected areas. The soil is contaminated 5-7 meters below the surface equalling 3-5 meters below the groundwater level. The tar contamination is heavy in the western part of the site. Cyanides are primarily found in the northen part of the site.  It is estimated that the volume of contaminated soil is 45 000 m3. A contaminated groundwaterplume in the upper aquifer discharges in a habour bassin 100 metes downstream the site.

The site is located in the central urban area of Horsens. The site owner is Denmarks Industrial Museum. At the museum meeting facilities can be booked as well as catering from the museum café. The museum has WIFI. keyclones.com

Krav til projektejere

Prior to any testing activities Central Denmark Region must be contacted in order to approve and schedule testing activities. In order to minimize inconvinience to the musem activities testing activities will be scheduled accordingly. Expenses in relation to meeting facilities, catering or power must be setteled with the musem. 

As a rule all data obtained at the testsite must be accessible for future test projects.
